The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe, has warned some journalists who exhibit unprofessional behavior in the media industry by spreading false or distorted information to attract viewers and create public confusion.
He addressed this issue following reports shared on social media, where some claimed that Rwanda had issued a “declaration of war” against neighboring countries. Nduhungirehe refuted these claims, stating that they were fabrications and misrepresentations, and he called for those responsible to be held accountable, as such misinformation could cause unnecessary panic.
In a message posted on X (Twitter), he stated:

He made these remarks after a journalist from a new radio station in Rwanda misrepresented what Nduhungirehe J.P. had actually said:
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nduhungirehe Olivier, stated that Rwanda would not tolerate the killings in DRC, Burundi, and those committed by CODECO against the Tutsi. Hakuzwumuremyi Joseph interpreted this as meaning that Rwanda would go to war if these killings do not stop.”
This statement could be easily interpreted as Rwanda preparing for war, and it also touches on ethnic issues, which could lead readers to draw different conclusions.
